"Little Scientist"
Scientific and artistic creativity session for children in the House "Zyber Halluli"

Tirana, Albania

June-July, 2021

We all feel the need to help vulnerable children rise to the occasion and find a better life. The level of poverty and social barriers that orphans face is enormous and we seem powerless to stop it. Each of us can make a difference in the life of a child. All it takes is a little creativity, time and small sacrifices to make a big difference. If the purpose of the institution itself is to provide the right warmth by finding you a family and home, or educational education within the institution, our association seeks to engage children in comprehensive, artistic and scientific activities. Involving orphaned children in extracurricular educational activities is an easy way to teach them to socialize with each other. Scientific education activities aim to teach children to be problem solvers and to activate critical thinking to develop a curiosity about the world around them. These skills empower children to be confident in their ability to meet the challenges of life which is a life skill that can not be overestimated. Plus, they are a fun tool and a great way to create memories from their childhood.

The objectives of the project proposal are:

  1. Promoting and developing the creative skills of orphans;

  2. Their involvement in social, entertainment and scientific activities;

  3. Education through learning the theoretical, scientific, practical and comparative definitions that will develop critical thinking about the uses of natural phenomena;

  4. Improving the emotional state of the families of orphaned children through art and science activities;

  5. Promoting the scientific and artistic skills of orphans.

The project as a whole was conceived as a course of several days which adhered to this program:

  • Referral of knowledge on STEM experiments, acquaintance with physical phenomena and their creation with different materials used by children which turned them into works of art;

  • Realization of individual creative works by children;

  • Creating group work for different exercises.

At the end of the course, an exhibition was organized with the most prominent works made by children, which were promoted in the most frequented area of Tirana, specifically in Tirana Castle.
